The 5 Year Apprenticeship

Our program consists of five years of supervised, on-the-job training accompanied by classroom instruction that supports and complements the jobsite experience. A beginning apprentice in one of our commercial tracks will earn in excess of $30 per hour and pays no tuition. This apprenticeship program is committed to equal opportunity in recruitment, selection, and training. No previous trade knowledge is necessary to apply!

Upon graduation from the program, the apprentice is granted journey level status.  Journey levels are encouraged to return to the Training Center in order to expand their knowledge and add to their skill sets through our journey level training program.  Tuition is free!

The process

STEP 1:

  • High School Diploma/Official Transcripts, or College Diploma/Official Transcripts or GED/Official Scores. 

  • Foreign Diplomas must be certified by a credential company that they are equivalent to a US High School diploma. 

  • Online Diplomas are not accepted.

  • Valid Driver's License, or State issued ID or Passport.

  • High School Seniors may provide a letter of recommendation from their high school indicating they are on track to graduate by June 2021 in lieu of a High School Diploma.

 Submit an Application and upload copies of the following 

documents online.

STEP 2:

  • Submit your application online along with the required supporting documents before the deadlines indicated above.

  • Once your application and supporting documents have been verified, you will be assigned a test date for the entrance exam.

  • High School Seniors anticipating graduation by June of 2021 will be allowed to take the entrance exam, however results will not be given until proof of graduation is provided, no later than June 30, 2021.

  • The entrance exam consists of basic math and mechanical reasoning questions.  You will be given 3 1/2 hours to take the exam.

  • The entrance exam will be held socially distanced at the Training Center for the dates indicated above.

Pass the entrance exam with a score of 75% or better.

STEP 3:

  • Ranking on the waiting list is based on the test score only.
    The waiting list is valid for up to 3 years for the Plumbing and Steamfitting-Pipefitting trades.  Applicants are called off the waiting list to be dispatched to a job by order of ranking on the list.

  • The waiting list for the HVACR trade is valid for 2 years.

  • Applicants for the HVACR trade must solicit work and gain sponsorship from a 393 signatory contractor to start the apprenticeship.
